TRYOUTS AND selection

Each team will conduct one tryout session. These sessions will be overseen by TRVC coaches and members of the volleyball community who are not affiliated with the club. Tryouts will focus on athleticism, fundamental skills, and game play.

Tryout Information:

16U/18U Winter Tryout

Date: Sunday, November 24th
Location: Westwood Community High School
Times: 7:30pm-9:00pm

14U Winter Tryout

Date: Sunday, November 24th
Location: Westwood Community High School
Time: 6:00pm-7:30pm

Note: Athletes are allowed to tryout for more than one team if they are looking to play up in an older age group. For example, all 17U athletes are welcome to tryout for the 18U team. Additionally, athletes are allowed to tryout for one than one volleyball club.

Selection:

To ensure fairness in player selection, an independent member of the volleyball community will attend tryouts. 

Selection for a team is based on the following:

• Volleyball skill and ability

• Athletic potential

• Attitude and effort

• Positional needs of the team

Following tryouts, a selection committee consisting of the head Coach, assistant coach, board member, and an independent member from the volleyball community will collaborate to determine athlete placements. Players will be placed on teams that best match their skill level and development needs.

Notification:

Players selected to a team will be notified of their team placement within three days of the final tryout session. Players who are selected for a team will receive additional information about the upcoming season, including a schedule of practices and tournaments.

An athlete's commitment to a club team is only official once they sign the Volleyball Alberta Letter of Intent (LOI) on or after the designated signing dates. LOIs will be sent out to players selected for a team.
